So you think you belong to one of the best game Guilds in the
world of role-paying? You think one of your fellow Guild Members
has the coolest character this side of creation? Show me! Whether you are into MMORPG's, D&D, MUD's, pen 'n' paper or board games, I know that RPG gamers can be some of the most creative people on the planet. It’s part of what attracts them to gaming to begin with. With that said, I would like to immortalize your Guild and at least one character from that Guild forever in a book, The Battle for Traddlebow. No, it is not a game, at least not yet. It is a High Fantasy book being collaboratively written by half a dozen experienced writers, which is scheduled to be submitted to publishers later this summer. So what does this have to do with gaming? We need a Guild, and more specifically a Hero from a Guild, to help save the day in the final climactic ending of the book we are writing. We would like that Hero to come from you! Besides the possibility of your Hero and Guild being immortalized in contemporary High Fantasy books, we will award $500.00, to the Guild itself (if applicable), or if not applicable divided equally among guild members, to use as they see fit. Here is what you need to do: 1) If you are not the creator or leader of the Guild, you need to ask the Guild creator and/or leader's permission to use it. 2 If this is a Guild with other members you must ensure you have their support in this venture and ask for people to help you with a little writing. One Guild story per Guild but unlimited Character (hero) stories can be submitted. 3) Write a 500-2000 word description of you Guild*. Submit this here Make sure you let us know what Game this Guild comes from, which server (if applicable) and what your Guild is known for in a separate introduction. 4) Write a 500-2000 word description of the Hero from that Guild*. Submit this here Make sure you mention what Guild from what game and their abilities, stats, weapon and armor in a separate introduction. 5) Have as many members from your Guild (and RPG game of choice) come to these forums Lore/Guild/Character to help polish your stories. Here you will find lots of writers willing to help critique and improve your submissions. Have your Guild and everyone they know make replies of encouragement and endorsement. Though popularity is not the sole determining factor for which Guild will be used in the book, it certainly will play an important role. 6) On June 30th the “Gods” (Editors) of Mernac will choose the winning Guild and Hero and award the $500.00. Rick Merriman, the site founder, will then write a chapter from your Guild’s and character’s perspective based on the submitted Guild Story and Character story and both the character and Guild will also play crucial roles in the final “Battle Scene”. 7) Contact the makers of the Game your Guild and character come from and invite them to “sweeten” the pot in reference to prize money or other assistance in promoting your Guild in this experiment of marrying gaming and fiction. Let the Guild Wars begin. * In all writing and stories submitted: Though we want to bring in the nuances of your Guild and Hero from the game world it was created from, it must also fit into Mernac. Read the stories and Lore on the site so you can better blend your class, alignment, factions and race into Mernacian speak. Do not utilize trademarked characterizations from the game you bring your Guild and character from. Use of your Guild name and character name is not only acceptable, it is highly encouraged!
